Josh and I went up to Salt Lake and Park City for a little one-night getaway. Lydia stayed with Grandma and Grandpa Slater. I had never been away from her for that long. I missed her while we were gone, I couldn't wait to see her. On our way home, as I looked at the beautiful fall leaves, I imagined how we would be greeted by her when we arrived.
How I wanted it to happen:
Enter Josh and Emily
-Lydie looks up from the book they are reading, practically leaps out of Grandpa’s arms and runs toward me saying “Mommy!!"
This is what I figured would happen:
Enter Josh and Emily
-Lydia looks up from the book, acknowledges our presence, does something darling to get grandpa’s attention, then keeps looking at the book with him.
This is how it really happened:
Enter Josh and Emily:
-Lydia is just waking up from a nap. Daddy picks her up and she practically leaps out of Daddy’s arms trying to get to...Grandpa. Mommy picks her up before she can get to Grandpa and Lydie proceeds to cry in Mommy’s arms because she can’t have Grandpa.
So, I guess it's me that has the separation anxiety. Josh tells me it's a good thing that she's secure enough to not freak out when we're gone, but I have to admit, I'm a little nervous to leave her there again.

Congrats on the get away! I think it's both thrilling and a little devastating to find that my children can survive time with out me. What's up with that?
How funny! I worry that Gracie will love someone more than me...that will probably happen when she's a teenager, but luckily we're not there yet!
