Come, Baby Come!

Now that we're finally settled in I've been spending my days getting things ready for Baby Will's arrival. I am 35 weeks along and we're praying that he comes a week before his due date because Josh will be on his Fall break that week and wouldn't have to worry about missing class to be with us. Please pray with us that he comes early! Besides that, I'm already huge and can barely turn over in bed. Every time I go up the stairs I have to stop for a breather. I was NEVER this big with Lydia.

Lydia has been very helpful (too helpful) in the preparations. She helped me sort through all Will's clothes-Thanks so much to Emmett, Odie, Pierce, and Quinn for passing on all those adorable clothes! This kid is going to be well dressed.I just finished this rag quilt for Will. The process made a huge mess! Once I started cutting and clipping the pieces of fabric there were little white, brown, and green fuzzes ALL over the house. Lydia would walk around and point to them and say, "Oh, Mommy, you made a mess!" And she does this broken record thing where she just repeats it over and over. So helpful!

All the toys I've been pulling out to clean are immediately dirtied again by Lydia. She really loves this little bouncer chair. Hopefully the novelty of it will wear off before he gets here. She will sit in it at every chance she gets. This morning she sat in it outside the bathroom door while I took a shower. It was a total flashback to her tiny days.

We're getting excited to have an addition to our family. I am scared though too. I've just been really trying to enjoy my days with just Lydia. Things are going to be so different! I'd love any pointers on how to make the transition easier on a toddler.

Adding another kid to the mix has been hard for me, to say the least. I constantly am stressed and frazzled. I feel bad because I can't give either kid full attention. I am not telling you this so you can feel dread, but just so you know when things get hard other people know what you are going through. Good luck!

I have a friend who said when her husband comes home from work, instead of asking him to take the older one and allow you time to deal with the newborn, she would specifically ask him to take the newborn so she could have that old one-on-one time with the toddler. She said this helped the toddler know that Mommy was still here for him (her), and that they were still important. Just a thought - hope that helps a little! I can't remember - did you go early with Lydia? I'll definitely be praying that you do with Will! What a cute name!

Allie loved sitting in our bouncer chair thing, too, and it broke a few weeks back when she sat down in it! Just a warning!

We're praying and pulling for you guys!

I'm so excited for you to have your little #2! Two is hard, but so rewarding too. It is so fun to have a boy and a girl. I'm so excited to meet your little guy. I'll put you in my prayers. Love you!

Well, if you can survive the first few weeks you'll be fine. And, take those one-on-one moments with Lydia as often as you can...that HELPS a ton! Everyone who says that 2 is easy...HAS more than 2 kids. It's an adjustment..and remember that Will will be a tough kid...for all the taunting and teasing he endures (Lindsey (3) has done the same with our little Talmage (10 months) and now they're great little buddies). I too feel like Karen that I'm always frazzled, constantly telling them to stand up, get going, sit down, stop bugging one another, be happy, stop crying, eat your breakfast, don't spill, be careful, etc. OH MY HEAVENS! But they truly are the greatest blessing...and I have to remind myself that they're only little once, so they should enjoy it, despite me feeling like I am always assigned clean-up duty. Anyway, so excited to see your new little one! Take care and hope he comes early! Email me your address at lisettethurgood@gmail.com

How fun!! I am jealous that your pregnancy is almost over, I wish mine was too. I have heard it's quite an adjustment from 1 to 2 kids, you will be a busy lady for sure. I know you will do a great job though. I am just not excited for no more good night sleeps for awhile :) It's totally worth it though!!

We told brady that Zach was HIS baby, like, "is your baby hungry?" and told him things zach was saying, a cry night be, "oh baby wishes he could play with you! he loves you sooo much".
Ownership works great!

When Marcus came to see his twin brothers at the hospital for the very first time, he found a special present waiting for him. It was a toy truck and we told him that it was from the babies because they were so excited to meet him and be his brothers. Later, when Marcus did act out a bit, we started the Helper Chart and used stickers to fill it up whenever he helped with the babies or just around the house--or whenever he was a good listener. When it was all full, we went to Chuck-E-Cheese. It just takes time, but they will grow to love each other so much. I'm really excited for you. It is so wonderful when they are just so fresh from heaven. Enjoy it!
