Home Sweet Home

We did it- we actually moved across the country to the lovely state of Virginia. We have now been Virginia residents for three weeks. Josh is a dental student at Virginia Commonwealth University. So far so good. We're happy and adjusting well. It was a really funny feeling to be in a totally new place and call it "home." Try explaining that to a 2 year old!

Last week we went to the Washington D.C. temple which is about 2 hours (or 3 if you hit traffic like we did) away from our home. Our wonderful friends Doug and Jackie were kind enough to take us and watch Lydia while we went in the temple. Thanks, Doug and Jackie!!! We'd be lost here without you!

Two wonderful things happened while we were in the temple. As I sat in the quiet reverence of the temple and listened I was overcome with a feeling of love. It was a feeling that said to me, "you've come home." That was so powerful to me. I needed that feeling to make this our new home and move forward with our family. I know there are hard times to come, but I feel so at peace here and I am really starting to love it.
The other thing that happened was that I remembered the power of the promises that we make in the temple. They are so strong that they bind our families together for all eternity. We hate that we are so far away from the ones we love so much, but we are so blessed to know that we are forever families and that these bonds will extend forever and ever. I needed that because I feel that there's so much we'll miss out on while we're away. But we'll have eternity to catch up on everything in the life after this.

Going to the temple really impacted Lydia too. She's been making temples with her bristle blocks ever since we went. She did this all by herself this morning. The piece that sticks up is Angel Moroni. She sang at the top of her lungs the whole time she was building it.
Life is good. We miss you all. Big Hugs!!!

I hope school's going well for Josh - and that you're getting adjusted to your new surroundings Emily!! Can't wait to hear more about it! If you ever take a trip to Kirtland or Palmyra let us know!! You can stay with us or we could meet you there or whatever!! It would be so awesome to see you!!

Welcome to the East Coast!!! We have been here for about three years now. It is really hard to be so far from family and to miss things, and it is especially hard to see what our families are missing out on with our children. However, it is amazing to see how much the Lord loves us and when things are the hardest, amazing miracles happen! We are in between Boston and New York (about two hours from each) and you are welcome to stay with us if you come this way. We would love to see you!

I was excited to see your post! I'm so glad you're feeling so at home there...it brings peace and comfort to me and I'm sure to mom too, to see that you're happy and adjusting and doing well. It seems to make me feel a little better about the whole situation. I still miss you so much, and that won't ever change! :) Love you all! Kisses and hugs to Lydie...make sure she knows they're from me!
